What We Believe
The Bible – God inspired men to write the Bible to say what God wanted to tell us about himself. God is the real author of the Bible, insuring it is totally true and trustworthy without error. The Bible provides all Christians instruction on how to live our lives and how to receive Christ as our Savior.
God – There is one and only one living, true God. God is perfect in everything and deserves our highest love, honor, and praise. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each having distinct personal attributes, but existing without division of nature, essence, or being. There is one God existing in three persons.
God the Father – God the Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is fatherly in attitude toward all men, but Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
God the Son – Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, having always existed with the Father. Jesus voluntarily became a man in order to identify with us, yet He was without sin. He died on the cross to make a way for man to be forgiven of their sins, paying our penalty for us. After His death, He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. He will return to earth in power and glory to judge the world and to finish His redemptive mission.
God the Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and is God. The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the Bible. He exalts Christ and convicts men of sin. He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ, cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and gives believers spiritual gifts to serve God in the local church.
Man – Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. Adam and Eve sinned against God and brought sin into the world and now all of us are born with the tendency to sin. Our sin separates us from God who is holy. Only God’s grace through Jesus Christ can bring us back into a right relationship with God. Since God created all of us, God loves everyone and every person of every race is worthy of respect and Christian love.
Salvation — Salvation is the beginning point and continual process of our eternal life relationship with God. Salvation is available to anyone who shall believe in their hearts and confess with their lips that Jesus is our Lord who lived a life among us, gave his life on a cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins and then arose from the dead securing the victory over sin and death for all who believe. Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through him.
