April 2014

The words hobby & passion are usually connected to one another – Whatever your hobby is, you have a passion for; the two go together like salt and pepper. With April FINALLY getting here my hobby, wait for it … FISHING.  I look forward to hearing the alarm clock go off at 3:45am, walking quietly through the house, not waking anyone, getting all my gear ready and heading to Kentucky Lake to hit the crappie!  Usually the crappie hit me but that is a different story for a different day!

I’ll make sure everything in the boat is in order and head to my favorite honey hole – it is my escape.  There are so many different ways to fish for these fish (paper mouths, specks, perch …).  Regardless of the method, the goal remains the same – get them in the boat!  As you can tell, I am a bit obsessed!

Hopefully, our ultimate hobby and passion is our relationship with the Lord.  Funny how I can awaken at 3:45am some mornings and not think twice about it.  I have no problem taking the time to prepare my gear and the boat.  No issues with having the perseverance to catch a fish that is just going to end up in the skillet (Captain D’s is much cheaper).  Whatever your hobby and passion is – enjoy it, in fact, enjoy every minute of it.  Let’s just keep it in perspective. Nothing on this earth should take greater precedence than our relationship with the Lord.  Lets all pursue the Lord more than anything else; including crappie!

You are loved Oakland!
